Trail Cam Suggestions

I'm looking a getting another trail cam.

I had one of the Wildgame IR4 that I got for Christmas but the pictures were really blurry so I returned it.

Probably just a bad unit but after reading some of the reviews those cams can be hit or miss as to how good they are.

For $70.00 I guess you can expect some issues.

I'm looking at one of the Stealth cams, the I-540 IR 5.0 - $149.00

I don't want to get a lot of money in a cam because it'll be used mostly on public land.

I'm trying to keep it at a $150 max.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We use moultrie cams. They seem to work well and you can get them for around $100.

I haven't seen any of the IR camera from Moultrie that low.

Bass Pro is where I'm looking at them is there a better place to get them?

No the ir's are a little more expensive, I have just the regular flash and don't have any issues with spooking game. But If I hunted public land I would be a little iffy having the flash on to alert other hunters of my setup and camera.

that's my concern with the flash because the area I'm in gets a lot of traffic..

i've seen the images from those cams and they are great pictures.

I ran into a hunter who said that someone had stolen the memory card out of 2 of his trail cams. I would try and hide them pretty good.

that's my concern with the flash because the area I'm in gets a lot of traffic..

i've seen the images from those cams and they are great pictures.

I use the Mountrie I40s. I have 4 of them. they use a standard SD Card (the Stealth uses CF if I remimber correctly) so I can view the pics right on my digital camera or PDA. They work great. I have had them now for 3 years and I am about to send them all back to get refurbashed. I leave them out all year and get about 6 months of life out of a set of batteries even on feedre sites. With a 2 gig card i can get well over 2 months on a feeder site without changing them out.

I went with a StealthCam I540IR for my first cam.

So far I'm happy with it, the trigger time is a little slow from wakeup but with how I plan on using it It should be fine.

This is the 3MP setting.

Here is a good IR comparison from the first camera I had.

I will say the Wildgame was taking blurry pictures during the day which is the main reason I returned it.

I'm glad I did now after seeing the images from the StealthCam

The top image is a Wildgame IR4.0 4MP

The bottom is the StealthCam I540IR set a 3MP

The Stealthcam seems to put out more light in the whole area and the images just look more balanced with more viewing area.

I bought it at Bass Pro for $149.00.

I've seen them cheaper at Cabala's but I had Christmas Gift cards I wanted to use..

The wake up time is a little slow but like all the reviews say, it works best on feeders or food plots.
