Please don't drink and drive, or allow others to...

This time of year tragedy abounds as people get together to have a good time and invariably someone ends up driving who's had too much to drink. The following video is a BRUTAL reminder of what this sort of behavior can cause.

Please - PLEASE - be responsible, not just for yourself, but for your friends who might try to drink then drive as well.

WARNING: this video, presented by the Transport Accident Commission, Victoria (Australia) is graphic and brutal, but realistic.

Remember New Years Eve is amatuer night. You might be sober as a judge but what about the other guy?

Which is exactly why I don't go out on New Years Eve.

Good post and great reminder of what could happen when over-indulging and driving. If TV in this country had the cojones to show something like this it might just have a positive impact.

brutal, I had to stop watching.

And that is why if I even have one sip it is at home.

That's exactly why I don't venture out on New Years Eve. I saw enough of that crap as a LEO.

Holy crap.

That about sums it up.

Unfortunately the schmucks who insist on getting blitzed and getting behind the wheel will continue to do so until either they kill someone, themselves, or see a loved one get killed by another schmuck that insists on doing the same. That's why I have no tolerance for drunk drivers. Besides, I have enough close calls with the sober ones on their cell phones.

Stay safe out there folks. I want to see every one of our fellow TGO folks back on here in '10.

That was very difficult to watch.

I never drink until I am at the place at which I will lay my head for the night, usually at home.

Unfortunately, that doesn't protect us from those who don't. Any form of distracted driving (impaired, texting, whatever) can be deadly.

I cannot bring myself say thanks for posting, but it certainly was proper to post it. Well done.

A good reminder of what can happen if you drink and drive. I dont go out on New Years. Bars are too packed and the drunks are out in force. Plus UT is playing on New Years eve this year.

That's reason enough to get :poop:faced.

Seriously please be safe this New Year's. I will agree that it's not just the drunks but anyone who is not watching the road. I had 2 wrecks in my younger days while playing with the radio. It only takes a 1/2 second to ruin your life or someone else's forever.

And you can't spell Chik-Fil-A Bowl without UT

Oh crap you can, oops

That's kinda funny.....;)

I saw a girl, driving...steering with her knees, looking down texting...

I almost hit a newer model Mercedes this morning....she decided to turn...no blinker.....of course I guess it's too hard to turn with your left hand and hold the phone to your ear.....;)

Don't know if I posted this here before, but I approach the RR tracks one day. I stop until the others have left to let me over the tracks safely. I get over the tracks and a lady in her early 60s pulls up behind me in a brand new white Jag, directly over the tracks, and starts to fumble through her purse. I joke to my wife that "Wouldn't it be her luck if a train came?" I look to my right and see a slow moving train not 300 feet from her. It didn't blow horn(?). I run out of my truck and tap her hood, she sees me, I point to the train, she wants to back up but the guardrail lowered behind her and she just looks at me. I motion for her to go around me, as there are 4 lanes now available to her left.

You can't fix stupid even when there is no alcohol involved. Now add the alcohol.

I lost a good friend to drunk driving. Made a large impact on me. Not only do I not drink and drive,I hardly ever drink.

My kid goes to the teen 'spots' and gives people rides home. She is a one kid sober ride home for many!

I wish the kids didn't drink but I am glad that my kid is watching out for as many as she can.

All this from one drunk driving tragedy.

If only it had the same effect on everyone.

I'm gonna post that up on FB. Like Buzz87 I lost 2 friends to a drunk driver back in school and I have an absolute disdain for people that drink and drive. I have lost friends over how I react when people want to leave a party or something that I'm at when they are drunk.

If you want to plow headlong off a cliff fine, but there are other people out there who don't deserve to die because you are a selfish toolbag.

That was more than enough to keep me out of the bars. Well, that and a wife and 2 kids . . . . .
