Does anyone now of an armorers class in Tennessee? I am looking to take a 1911 class but can't seem to find any information about something local. Any help would be appreciated.

There isn't a class anywhere close. I just showed him where to get do it yourself DVD s(AGI : AMERICAN GUNSMITHING INSTITUTE VIDEO ARMORER'S COURSES - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools) What classes I could find were around $400. What I could find out about these classes, they teach you too, clean, inspect, and function check. I am not an armorer but I could teach someone that in a few hours for free. I just think that's a lot of money for a gun cleaning class. Gunsmith class is a different story, that should cost a pretty penny if it is good.:D

Thanks for the info on the DVD's!

It's too bad that there isn't a gunsmithing school around here.

I was talking to my gunsmith about wanting to learn to build and maintain 1911's and he told me that if I was interested I could buy parts and he would let me assemble my gun in his shop while he looks on so that I could learn...that seems to be about the best option for me that I have found.

Call the Rabbi at Eastside. He is going to do an evening with the 1911 sometime in Jan.

Bill Wilson and the Rabbi are old chums. Bill will not be conducting the class himself, but is sending someone who is just a knowledgable. This class won't make you a smith, but will get you pointed in the right direction.

Thanks for the information I found some information but I would have to travel for the class and I just can't take of for a week or longer for my pastime. I sent an IM about the Rabbi so I will try the route, if I find something out I will post it here.

I am hosting an 2 day AR-15/M4 platform plus a one day Shotgun armorers class in early March. It looks like the 9th will be the first day. This will be through my department, Humphreys Co Sheriff's Office (Waverly). Citizens are welcome. I will have firm dates and cost in the coming week. Shoot me a PM if you are looking for either of those classes.

I'm thought his gunsmith John Wall will be leading the class?
