Springfield XD40 SC

Been looking at the Springfield XD40SC lately. Not necessarily the XDM, but the older version. I have not fired one although I have fired the 9MM version of the subbie and it was very sweet. I have also fired the XDM40 service model and it was doubly sweet. For those of you who own one, by comparision, how much more recoil is expected from the 40 as compared to the 9MM? Thinking about using the subbie as EDC and once again selling or trading the Kel-Tec PF9 (some of you know I've been going back and forth with that one for some time now). Anyway, just thought I'd ask and get some opinions.....

Coal Creek has one that you can rent (xd40sc)....I loved it so much that it's on my list as soon as my fund gets replenished. My other .40 kicks more than the Springfield IMHO. For such a short barrel (yes!) it was a dream....tome no more kick than a 45...:(

I have a Springfield 40 and just got a Springfield XDM 9 MM for Christmas as far as recoil there is"nt that much differance but do like the 9mm the best.

Just checked out the new XDm 3.8 9mm at Hero-Gear today. It's barrel is obviously shorter, but the grip is the same as the standard full-size XDm (ie 19 rounds)

I've owned an XDm 40, and compared to a 9mm, it's definately going to have more recoil. But I always say, if you move up to a .40, might as well get a .45....

I sold all my .40 S&W pistols, and decided to stick with 9mm and .45

The recoil of the .45 doesn't bother me (not that it should), I just actually prefer a .45's recoil over a .40's recoil. It's hard to explain, but the .45 just feels better to me, and I'm more accurate with it.

It all comes down to what you feel the most comfortable shooting.

All that said, I'd check out the new 3.8 version of the XDm....
