Define electric.....

We've had electric driven mini guns since Vietnam.

We've had stun guns/ tazers for decades.

We've been working to develop a deployable version of magnetically accelerated projectiles or "Gaussian Weapons" for decades as well.

I'm talking about what I saw on some TV show about electric guns that I think are the electro magnetically accelerated type that you speak of. They showed pistols as well as million round tank shredders that could be programmed to shoot in different configurations such as bursts, waves or all at one time.

I think what you are referring to is called Metal Storm. I think they have a handgun prototype, nothing near the open market yet.

CVA has an electric muzzle loader on the market now. it is electronic fired no primer.

MetalStorm has several mititary prototypes that fire caseless ammo electronically. The ammo is stacked end to end in the barrel allowing one or all to be fired at once. In the handgun prototype, three rounds can be fired at once resulting in each round being place on the exact same spot with no muzzle climb because the gun only recoils once. YouTube - Metal Storm

That's the man portable stuff (with a truck mounted generator.)

Here's the Navy's heavy metal version. The army has been working on the same. These versions are call rail guns.
