Since you are in Nashville there are several IDPA & USPSA matches within an hour drive. Non are TGO affiliated but these matches are open to the general public so come on out. Next IDPA match is Jan 2 http://mctsclub.com in Dickson

Are these NRA Sanctioned?

Sanctioned by IDPA or USPSA both have websites. If you can safely draw and handle a handgun as well as follow basic instructions you will be welcomed at any IDPA or USPSA match.

To answer the original question... utter and complete lack of time and resources. I'd be willing to broker some sort of arrangement with any organization that wanted to pair up with TGO and produce some USPSA or IDPA (or similar style) events but they'd pretty much have to handle all of the heavy lifting. My schedule has gone from 0-mph to 100-mph in the last month and shows no sign of slowing.

Why doesnt TGO host any competitions?

My guess is that TGO doesn't host any matches because it's not a Gun Club with a Gun Range AFAIK. I would guess it doesn't sponsor matches due to $

There has been atleast one attempt to pull together a TGO IDPA match at Brush Creek per the link below.

http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/competitive-shooting-sports/5729-fifth-sunday-idpa-lite-shoot-tennessee-gun-owners-members.html

I didn't attend myself and can't speak to how it went.

I think most of the folkes that read this topic participate in matches in their area and need to talk it up on the TGO and network at the matches.

If there is anyone in the Nashville area that is interested in getting into 3 gun Competitions I'm willing to help anyway I can....

Henry County Gun Club

Why doesnt TGO get sponsored by a local gun club, that could use the members, and negotiate interests? Dont get me wrong, I enjoy story-telling as much as the next guy, but what about some friendly competitive shooting?

Theres 6000 members on this site. No reason why we couldnt get 50 to come out and shoot, right?

Why is it that since the OP didn't specify a type of shooting competition that you people automaticly presume that it is IDPA or USPSA that the OP is asking about?

I am just askin!

What kind of compeition would you like to do? Highpower rifle, Shotgun (Trap or Skeet), Pistol (IDPA, USPSA), Benchrest, Tactical Sniper rifle, Tactical .22LR sniper rifle, Smallbore (Thee Position, Prone, Mini Palma) Bullseye Pistol, PPC, Sihouette Pistol or Rifle? I know that there is more, but this is all that came to mind at the moment..

Do you know any clubs that are accepting new members? A lot of clubs have a long waiting list for membership.

We should all pool our resources, buy some land and operate it as the TGO Gun Club. :D

(But really... how cool would that be?)

Probably because the vast majority of HCP holders on this site are already fairly well equipped to shoot IDPA or USPSA style events without investing into the gear necessary to shoot precision long-range.

David, I didnt' suggest that now did I. And if you noticed.. he prefers Bullseye.. which can be just as expensive as highpower.. so can IDPA and USPSA for that fact..

If you don't want your questions answered, DON'T ASK THEM.

I think for the most part, the TGO crowd are non competitive shooters. This board seems like it has more of the casual plinkers and/or defensive carry types. No disrespect to those guys but thats just the way it seems. For those of you in Knoxville,Oak Ridge,Loudoun and surrounding counties, get your butts out to ORSA and start competeing. No excuses such a "I don't have an expensive gun" or "I will embarass myself". As long as caliber is 9mm or larger you are good to go. Gun, holster, 4-5 mags and a couple of double mag pouches and your set to shoot USPSA,IDPA and Steel Challenge. Add an AR and shotgun and play 3G/Multigun.
