I have heard that Bob Marvel is an EXCEPTIONAL smith, any chance I could see a pic of the weapon.

I sold it to trim down my collection ... great pistol and Bob is a nice guy.

When I was working I went nuts buying a bunch of high end 1911's..

Being retired for 2 years now money is tight and have sold some of my pistols....:D

Probably another reason that Kimber is priced so high or any custom rebuild or 1911 built from scratch. If you have it done by one of the better gun smiths, you're going to have a longer waiting period in either getting work done or getting the full custom built to your specs. Some gunsmiths have 6 months to a 2 year waiting period depending on who they are. When someone is selling a top of the line gun done by one of these guys, you're also paying that you're getting it right on the spot instead of waiting a year or two for it. They are still overpriced but this is one of the reasons they get so much money. JMO...
