This little boy recieved a custom Mauser chambered for 257 Roberts. What makes it special is it was built by his grandfather. His brother has one as well, but grandpa hasn't yet checkered it. I would be proud of such a family heirloom and I believe he is as well.

It shoots MOA groups, and he's already killed 2 deer with it. He reloads his own ammo with supervision of course.

That is absolutely beautiful! Hopefully he WILL cherish that for life. And congrats on bringing the boys up in the right way!

What was the original rifle & caliber? How was the safety modified?

Just curious - I have a Model 94 Swede that was sporterized. I added the scope to mine and had to have the bolt cocking piece removed and a Beuhler safety added.

That's a darn fine looking rifle!

That's a 3 position, Winchester style safety. I'm not sure what brand, as several companies produce them. I think the rifle was probably an 8mm of to start. I believe it may have been Mexican in descent.

Nice! I'm working on one of my own. Nice cartridge pick. I love some of the old ones that aren't "hot" anymore but will never die due to getting the job done each and every time.
