Case in point - where in the Americas were most of the African slaves imported/used? clue - it wasn't the USofA.

Well most of the slaves went to south america but that isn't a really great question. The really great question is why africans were enslaved instead of the indigenous peoples?

It makes no economic sense after all. Why bother to ship africans all the way over here if you could just enslave a mayan or something? It would be much cheaper to enslave the mayan, heck that guy doesn't need the boat ride after all.

The answer is surprisingly simple. That said the notion that the US is somehow off the hook because other places were worse is right up there with the idea that david berkowitz is less evil than ted bundy because he killed less people.

Not that anyone said the US was off the hook because other places were worse. The US is off the hook because it was never on the hook. Everyone from every place has been enslaved and enslaved others. Only one group in one country can't seem to get over it. Don't really see that many people from the group in question complaining about slavery that is taking place today.

Oh, what is your answer to the importation question? The slave trade triangle was profitable for all the traders.
