Rod and Gun clubs

My brother in law was recently visiting from MA and told me he had just joined a Rod and Gun club for $50 a year it has a clubhouse and both pistol and rifle ranges. I have not seen any such clubs in the Chattanooga area are they a northeastern thing? Anyone know of a good place to shoot handguns and rifles in the Tellico Plains area?
