Hey Guys. I live in North Mississippi about an hour from Memphis and 45 minutes from Jackson, Tn. I need some advice. I am still fairly new to handguns, but I have been around firearms my whole life. I have my CCW in MS. I want some training. I need to improve my marksmanship big time.

Any insight as to where I should go? I've looked RangeUSA and Range Masters in Memphis. Anybody have any experience with these two or can you recommend someone else? I also want to take some street survival/gunfight type classes too, but I think I need some basic marksmanship instruction first...what do you think?

Our on-board trainer "Ben" does that, and you can also try Rangemaster's advanced knife and hand-to-hand combat classes my wife took.

I'd say you're sitting in the catbird seat......you're an hour from Memphis, and you have two good training options available to you.

I have trained at both places you mention, and I don't think you could go wrong with either. Better yet, and if time and money allow, train with both.

I've had classroom only training from Chip at Range USA, but he was squared away, and they enjoy a very good reputation from the Memphis-area members here.

I've taken a fair amount of training from Rangemaster, also, and they put out solid instruction and information too.

Either way, kudos to you for recognizing your need for additional training. ;)

ETA- No slight intended at Ben....I just commented on the two places you mentioned, and I've never trained with Ben.

You will see Ben's ad at the top of the TGO site on a regular cycle, alternating with Hero, and Sig, and NRA, etc. His ad is about Israeli style combat. You can also find him directly under the "Community" tab named "Members List" under "Ben." He does personal instructions up to about six people max. He travels to Middle Tenn. gun shows. He may go south if there is interest.

Thank you for the props!

As mentioned, both Rangemaster and Range USA are solid choices for what you are looking for.

My training is very aggressive and based on Israeli counter terror techniques. My focus (the absolute primary focus) is on building a rock solid Combat Mindset while simultaneously learning how to use your firearm in the most efficient way possible.

If i can help you in any way, please let me know.

my website is in my sig line below.

Whatever you chose to do, the best choice you have already made..to get trained!

That is a great idea. Get to know your firearm as if it is connected to your hand.
