I believe it to be for real. I got one call yesterday.

to prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone

888-382-1222

It is the National Do Not Call list. It will only take a minute of your time. It Blocks your number for 5 years

ALL cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketers and you will start receiving calls.

YOU MUST call from the cell phone you want blocked.

This is for real folks I just called, it took less than a minute.

Snopes might not say so in regards to the number , but Mike is right regarding unwanted calls/texts. I started getting marketing texts last week, "Free Scholorship Money" "Lottery" etc. There was a total of 5. I called ATT immediately, I have never gotten anything like that, ATT saw them, verified the "number" it wasn't a phone number, just a 5 number code or something, they blocked them, haven't received one since.

Don't know if the do not call number would work, but calling att did.

I've been lucky not to have any annoying calls or text, just wondering if the numbers really have been "released".

It's worth signing up for anyway. Get on the Tennessee Do Not Call registry also if you're not on it.

If I had not gotten one very recently I might have disregarded. That and the note I was given came from my boss. I have limited cell minutes which the company pays for. I figured I ought to call the number so I did.

The phone number listed goes to the Apex Appraisal Service in Phoenix AZ. Sounds fishy to me.

I have gotten one call that I would identify as a marketing call. Not going to get excited about it YET.

Got a call this afternoon from 222-222-2222. I didn't answer, then my vmail alert went off. I checked my message, it was recorded greeting from my kids private school system superintendent wishing me and my family a Merry Christmas. It was a nice surprise. The phone number was weird.
