Need some opinions

Thanks to offering my soul up for 6 more years to Uncle Sam, I will be coming into a bunch of money in July.

I need to figure out how to spend a chunk of it.

I've already got a lot of stuff figured out, like Aimpoint T1 micro on a Larue High Rise mount, SF Scout light, lots of ammo, P-mags.... All the goodies.

Now here comes the hard part.

Should I get an M4 or the FN SCAR.

And of course either will end up SBR'd.

Please discuss and persuade me.

I would wait and see what new stuff comes out at the SHOT Show in January. There might just be some badass new toy you cant live without.

Congrats on the enlistment, Active or Reserve? If your going Active, single and you'll be living on base, you'll have to store your toys in the unit armory. That can be a pain in the ass and leaving it with a friend is not a good idea. You'll be familiar with the M16/M4 platform because of Uncle Sam so maybe get the SCAR and have something different? I would have done that if I could afford it. Have a great time in.....

If you can afford it, buy a transferable M16 and you will not loose money on it! Transferable lowers can be found for about 8500 these days. At the end of the day you will have the most versatile full-auto platform there is.

Bank it and see what comes out new. What's the rush?

Got to shoot a Remington ACR it looks just like the SCAR.

it would take some time to get use to, and does have a different feel to it.

but you would be the only kid on the block with one, so that to me is a +.

Become Debt free first. Follow Dave Ramsey's baby steps. Don't do what I did while in the military. . . blew all of my bonuses on cars and junk.

+1 on being debt free. But who says you aren't! The SCAR looks pretty cool.

I've only got 1100 in credit cards, and that will be paid off by then. So this is mostly play money with some going into an IRA.

And waiting for the SHOT show is a good idea. But if nothing comes of it, either the SCAR or one of Joe's SBR kits will be mine.
