I will be looking for a new scope in the near future and read the article on Redfield scopes in the latest GUNS magazine. It states that they are being produced by Leupold. I saw one today in a store selling for $150, right at MSRP. Anyone have any opinions?

From what I read leupold/savage now owns redfield and are producing a more reasonable priced scope for the entry level scope. Check out their web site.

I don't know about the new Leupold Redfields, but the old Redfields of the mid 90's and before were very, very good scopes. I have a Colorado built early '90s Redfield Widefield 1.75-5x scope that is easily on par with any Leupold I own. I have high hopes for the new Redfield and hope Leupold expands the product line to include some higher-end scopes as well. The old Redfield that I remember made high quality scopes and I'd hate to see them get a reputation as a low-end brand. I am glad that Leupold is building the new Redfield scopes in the USA instead of just slapping the Redfield name on a cheap Asian import like they could have done. Kudos to Leupold for that.
