My New Toy

Just bought this Sig P229 from a friend at work (top) along with my Stoeger Cougar 8000. I have to say just by feel alone I like the Cougar better. The Sig is built like a tank, but is pretty top heavy and the grips are a little thick for my hands. Comparatively the Cougar fits like a glove and is very well balanced.

Can't wait to try it out at the range this weekend.

I'm going to post a couple more pics and a howto by a gunsmith on lubricating sigs this evening. The guy mentioned some spots on the slide that need more protection than others, so I took a quick look at those spots on mine. Sure enough there is serious wear on the metal right where he said the stresses are the highest.

Figured it might be nice for other Sig owners out there.

I like your P229 and if the grips feel thick try some Hogue re-checkered factory Sig grips and they will really thin the grip out, I totally agree with the lubrication as Sig's like/need to be well lubed, all my Sig's get Slide Glide on the rails and run flawlessly with little to no ware.... COOP
