For a LONG time now I been shooting Hogues on my SA1911. Felt good, shot good but I been feeling off other pieces and wanted something a little different. UH... not in a TIGER sorta way. It's gonna be for another 20 years, at least. Feels better and has a very unique look. Check out my pics and sound off what you think.

Before with the Hogue finger grooves and old time mag guide...

After with Carbon Fiber square grips with a S&A mag guide...

LOOKS LIKE A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PISTOL DON'T IT?? ;)

looks better, I am not a fan of the finger groove grips. If JMB thought them better he would have invented the gun with them.

It's that whistle I've got my eye on.

Different feel, have you tested your groups yet?

Definitely looks great!

I like the carbon fiber grips better myself. If that aint a long slide I do not know what one is.

It is an add on compensator I do believe.

Wonderful outcome on that update - the gun looks really nice, and that magwell/grip combo really helps to tie it all together. I love it.

The mag guide and flat bottom grips do feel a LOT better in my hand. Can't wait to do a target test and see if those cross checkers grab my hand as well as they look like they should.

By the way, Daniel is right on... it is not a long slide, "Painless" has a Wilson compensated match barrel that was available way back when they were just starting to shine in pin tournaments. It does have a unique feel when punching holes in the 10 ring. :P

My whistle?? Been toting that green whistle and compass for a LONG time too. They goes where I goes.

My blade?? That is a USN carbon from a LONG time ago. It has been the most easy to sharpen metal blade I have ever had. Been thru lots of knives and that one has been time tested thru many skinnins. It's a keeper. Wish I had a couple more just like it.

Hope to have a range report on the new grips this weekend!!

Man the older I get, the more old school minimalist I become.

The carbon fiber grips cleanly update, without overtaking. the 1911's distinctive lines.
