I'm not looking yet, but I'd be very interested in a JLD PTR-91KPF, or a DPMS AP-4 .308, eventually.

And me sitting here with a half dozen M1A's and FAL's... Oh well...

762x39 barrier penetration and a better all around round for SHTF stuff.

Plinking is obviously .22LR, anything longer than 150 yds or larger than a squirrel is worthy of a .308... currently I have nothing larger than rimfire rifles, but over the years I went through a few 700's in various configurations. Just wound up parting with all of them for better deals on pistols.

.270 Winchester is my favorite all around choice ... Plenty of bullet weight choices and can be pretty flat shooting with the proper load...

.22lr, 5.56, 7.62 Nato, .264 Winmag, .300 Winmag and .338 Lapua. .264 is perhaps my favorite all around calibre. It does well with prairie dogs right up to Elk. Extremely flat shooting and very accurate. The Lapua is a whole lot of fun. The HS I had was 1/4 MOA out past 1,000 meters. Barrel life on both the .264 and .338 is extremely short. I rebarrelled my HS at 900 rounds, after noticeable errosion and deterioration began at 700 rounds. My pre-64 Model 70 was rebarreled immediately after I got it and after 2,500 rounds is no longer worthy of the bench, but still a good game getter.
