Sig P229 Elite Dark?

Does anyone have experience with these? I was in G&L earlier today (took my HCP course, hooray!), and saw this while browsing afterwards. To say I badly wanted it is an uderstatement. I may have to sell some stuff...

I am especially curious about the SRT trigger - anybody have one?

Here's the link to the Sig page, since I'm having difficulty copying and pasting a picture: Products & Services

Note: the one I looked at did not have the threaded barrel.

My opinion, I like everything besides the adjustable sights and I do not like the looks of Beavertail on anything but a 1911, if you like those things then that is one hell of a pistol. I sent my P220 to SIG and had an SRT trigger installed and I love it. The aluminum grips on the pistol fell very good so again if you like the looks by all means it is an excellent pistol

I have a P229 Elite Stainless with the rosewood grips and love it. The SRT is excellent and can't say that the adjustable sights have bothered me at all, but I suppose to each is own. Wouldn't recommend it for everyday carry as it is a bit big, but great shooter.

The adjustable sights are one of my concerns, but I've been practicing point shooting anyways, so sights aren't that big a deal...at $919 plus tax, I'm trying to figure out of if the grips, beavertail (which I love) and trigger job are worth the extra cost over a stock 229 and aftermarket TFOs. You can follow my progress, via the Sigarms.com website:

The Al grips are very thin, which is a big attraction for me. I have a 239 with Hogues, and the idea of having nearly identical grip thickness with double stack capacity is very attractive. Sig is selling the grips for $180 through their website. Good lord, somebody finally found a way to manufacture grips that are more expensive than Nill.

SRT is $100.

Looking at stock P229 prices on gunbroker ($750+), it seems that the package deal is more affordable than buying a stock 9mm and adding the grips and SRT job, if night sights are part of the package. The beavertail is obviously impossible to price - it's more like you pay extra for it, and then Sig throws in some other goodies as well.

Am I selling this to myself? Dammit, this is always how it happens.

Where is JHatmaker when you need him? He probably has three of these.

Are you sure the Sig they had has the adjustable sights? I picked u pa new Stainless Elite 229 last week. It came W/ non adjustable night sights.

I'd think it would be more cost effective to buy the gun with the options you want instead of sending it back to Sig to have the SRT installed. Grips...meh...pick whatever you want. I went with Houges on my 229 and left the rosewood grips in the box.

I picked mine up to get:

1. SRT trigger

2. the added weight of the full stainless for IDPA

3. The beavertail..I just like the way it feels in the hand.

I have a 228 that sees carry duty sometimes, but the stainless 229 was different enough to be different :-)

I had a 220 carry elite awhile ago. It had the SRT trigger which I found to be excellent. I did not much care for the beavertail and I would not have adjustable sights on a carry pistol. I have a P229, just a plane jane model and would not trade it. Sorry to muddy the waters for you, but the SRT trigger is a big improvement over the standard DA/SA sig trigger.

Dark Elite comes with adjustables. I think the platinum does as well, but that may be the ugliest Sig I've ever seen. I didn't know they could be ugly until now: Products & Services . On the plus side, you can easily see the special label / Sig Custom Shop tag? on the slide. From the moon.

I put an SRT on one of my 220s. I really didn't care for it. I guess I've been shooting Sigs long enough to be accustomed to the "long" reset. I can't shoot it fast enough for the SRT to make a difference anyway.

If anyone is willing to let a stranger fire their P229 with the beavertail and SRT in the greater Nashville area, please PM me. I am seriously considering buying the Elite Dark in 9mm, and want to make sure I cover my bases before the gun fever takes full hold. I've got a 1979 Fender Stratocaster I don't play much that I've actually considered selling to fund the purchase (along with trading in my 239 if necessary; that's how bad I've got it), so I'd hate to rush in.

I'm not a Sig fan, but I'm a 79' Strat fan... hit me with a PM with pics and asking price if you decide to sell it!

I want the Elite Tatical NightElf MoHawk. Yeah! Sig has been going overboard lately with its doodads and pimped out WTF handguns.
