I picked up my P238 yesterday give it a good cleaning and some range time. It shoots really good for a small gun.

Nice looking pistola,are they a 1911 pattern,looks like they are.:drama:

Yes. It is a midget 1911. I fired it at the range yesterday with him. We have nicknamed it the "Noisy Cricket". It is a sweet shooter but is tiny compared to the guns I am used to shooting. It will be a wonderful conceal though. I know he is glad to have it and it is easily palmed even by me. Seems to be a great little gun.

I picked one up at Academy in Nashville a few weeks ago. Fits great in my back pocket and is a hell of a lot of fun to shoot.

Anybody can do that.

How about a .380 on a full sized frame:

How have they managed to not be sued by Colt for the complete rip?

I believe they actually purchased the plans and rights to produce these from Colt. Perhaps the production gear too.

I've read some where that sig actually purchased the colt mustang tooling and just made a few changes to sigify it. Spotted one at a local gun shop a couple days ago the little thing definitly has a high drool factor.

The design of the 1911 is old enough that all patents have long expired. Anyone can make a 1911 pattern pistol, no permission required.

Yeah, but it's not the 1911 issue. It's the Mustang issue. But if the rights were handled properly, then it makes sense.

The Mustang is, afaik, just a scaled down 1911 in .380. I wouldn't think patent rights would apply there either.

With all the "Warm" weather we are having I thought it would be good pop off a few rounds at my outside range. Indoors or out, warm or cold, the P238 is a pleasure to shoot.

You are freezing crazy:screwy: for going out to shoot in this weather. I should have locked the door and waited to see how much 'fun' it was 10 minutes later!!
