I've thus far been dissapointed with the performance of my coon dog.

I never have been coon hunting. Not least what you're refering to. I have always wanted to try it, but never met anyone with dogs that did. I do however have beagles and love rabbit hunting with them. I can only think that raccoon hunting would be as much fun.

I've heard there is something special about a coon hound "singing down in the holler". I'd love to try it some time.

No, but it sounds like I'd like it. Is it the dogs that make it so fun? Shot many a coon but always with their arse hanging out of my trash can.

It seems it would be like rabbit hunting. Just something about the dogs running the game than anything. At least it is to me.

Hate to hear that you don't like the blue dogs but it is great to finally hear a walker man admit that someone has some good blueticks.
