NRK Nett-TV - hastighetsmåling

In Norway, the annual Landsskytterstevnet (Rifle Country Fair) is Norway’s largest shooting tournament. One of the most popular Landsskytterstevnet events is a rapid-fire competition. The objective is to achieve the most hits on multiple targets in the alloted time period (typically 25 seconds or less). In some stages, all targets are at the same distance, while in other stages the shooters engage targets at 3 or 4 different distances.

You would think that a semi-automatic rifle would dominate the rapid-fire matches, but that isn’t the case. In the video linked below, civilian shooters with mag-fed Sauer 200 TR bolt-action target rifles outpace Norwegian army personnel using HK semi-autos. You’ll be amazed to see how fast the civilians can shoot their target rifles. It’s a great video… be patient and let it load from the Norwegian server.

Crowds Cheer Shooters

Equally amazing is the size of the crowd and the spectators’ enthusiasm. We’ve never seen anything like this in the USA. Over 1000 Norwegian fans are clapping, cheering, and singing during the match. You’d think this was a Big Ten Football game! Obviously the Norwegians love their shooting sports. Electronic scoring and big display screens allow the crowd to follow the fast-paced action.

I have no idea what they're talking about but that's some good TV (or whatever you call it on the interweb)!

It's really amazing how fast a trained marksman can operate a bolt action. Just ask whoever went up against the British and their Enfields. They were trained to fire something like 30 rounds/minute from their Smellys.

Nice video! Now I know why I shoot so good. It's my Norwegian blood! Not. I saw some things that were kind of different. The guys using the bolts use the middle finger as the trigger finger and the index operates the bolt. What's up with those funky glasses? Looks like the lenses were adjustable for windage and elevation. I'm not a competative shooter so these may be normal.

That's some great shooting and the crowd was huge and really in to the event. Out of curiosity, do the civilians use bolt-actions entirely by choice or are they just not allowed to own semi-autos there? It seemed like the semi-autos had a big advantage in the single target rapid fire.

The glasses are called "Knoblochs" which are designed for shooting.. and you can adjust them so that when you are in the shooting position then you will be looking throught the center of the prescription.

I think that is right about civilians there.. and the Sauer 200 is quite a rifle.. it is a switch barrel and can also come with a matching bolt for .22lr as well.

And yes.. I really enjoyed watching every minute of it.. even though I too could not understand a word of it.. but I must say.. it would be fun to try something like that.. but think about all the practice.. most people don't have the energy or will to train like that.. but still yet.. it would be a great blast as a fun match for sure.. It looked to me that they were shooting between 3 & 6 hundred meters in those matches.

Thanks for that answer. They must be as expensive as a scope!
