I keep a taurus OSS 9 , a high-point 9 , a H&R single shot turkey gun . If it takes more , I'll have to get out of bed .

Very simple approach - carry piece goes under mattress at head of bed, right next to the tactical back scratcher.

There's also a shottie underneath other end of mattress - that's the first choice if time allows.

Mossberg 500 is mom's, and I use the PT1911.

Reasoning: It's easier for her to use the shotgun under stress and in the dark with her bad eyesight. The bead is shiny enough for her to see (likely to, anyway), and she has better control over it (instead of relying on fine motor control). I am awake at the most common points, and sleep pretty lightly, and still have good eyesight and retain a lot of my fine motor control even when I get woken up suddenly (unless I was sleeping on my arm!)

Where it's located I'd have to grab it with my left hand first which would be my free hand. Technically, I'm a mixed bag, being ambidextrous. Things that require strength like shooting, throwing, golf, shooting long guns etc I'm right handed and right eye dominant. Things requiring finesse, like writing, eating, knife work when cooking, trim painting, etc I'm left handed.

When I go to the range with my handguns, I typically shoot right handed to center of mass, but I also practice head shots with my left hand only.

I used to have the M1 Carbine set up, but right now it's set in a case in the closet.

I keep an 870 AOW next to the bed, an 870 Police Magnum in the closet and a 1911 on the nightstand, lol. Thought about putting a cheap revolver in a bag in the Toilet Tank(in my bedroom) just to alleviate my fears of getting killed while taking a Constitutional.

Knowing you, you need a box of matches and some air freshner on top of your toilet tank.

Yeah, me too. XD45 Service stays in my nightstand. My EDC XD40 subcomp stays on the dresser across the room.

My Mossy 500 18" riot gun stays in the bed rail along box springs.

My wife keeps her EDC Keltec P3AT in her bed rail.

I'd go for my XD45 first as well, but considered swapping out my Mossy for my AR15. Glad that others consider that reasonable. 30 rds vs 7 rds seemed like decent enough odds.
