Thx for posting these pics as a reminder. One could bet that the good folks of TGO are not going to ever forget the sacrifices that were and are being made for our country. I have many memories of listening for hours on end to stories told by vets in my family. Sadly most of 'em are now gone, but their memories will be passed on, as you've done here for us as well. Thanks for ALL the vets out there!:)

It's sad how so few young people even know what happened on this day.

;)

Having one Marine grandfather that was a vet of the South Pacific, and one Army grandfather that was a D-Day vet, and having them both pass away in the past few years, I feel lucky to have experienced their tales first hand.

We're loosing WWII vets everyday, so if you know one, go sit and here their stories so that you may pass them on... and let us never forget.

Going to Pearl made it much more real to me. I had read about it in school and watched some video footage from that day. But to stand above the Arizona and still see oil bubbles comming to the top made me stop and really think about what happened on that day. God Bless the men and women who lost their lives on December 7th, 1941. :koolaid:

I went to the memorial when we pulled into Sand Island to to do REFTRA, and to take on stores fer a south trip. It was very humbling seeing all those names, yet it made me upset that the memorial was in poor condition. I think they may have spruced it back up. Anybody know? :hiding:

And even worse that when told, a lot of them seem to not even care and then some dont even care enough to listen.

I agree the GREATEST GENERATION to ever live and we don't even hardly remember them anymore. That is truly a travesty!

I just got back from the USS Arizona Memorial on Sunday and it looks great. They are renovating the entrance. They are giving the USS Missouri a face lift, she is in dry dock until mid 2010 getting a new paint job and upgrading the electronics on board.

That's my second trip in 2 years. My first trip out you could have heard a pin drop at the memorial, most leaving had a tear in their eye. Almost all the people out there this time were foreigners, Brits and Canadians and were very disrespectful and rude, talking loudly and letting their kids run around making as much noise as they wanted and hang off the sides of the memorial. I wanted to push a few in.

I had the pleasure of talking to a brother at the Scottish Rite a few weeks ago that showed me his Life Membership card to the Survivors of Pearl Harbor Organization. I have known this fellow for quite sometime and did not know he was there.

He was 19 years old at the time and was on one of the ships that was not hit. His stories were unbelievable. The next day he brought a list in of the 18 battles he was in during WW2.
