coyote hunting

Recommended Posts

I think I've got it figured out. Did a little paper punching this afternoon and I'm guessing I was about 2.5 inches low so with a chest bead I probably put it between his legs. No wonder he high-tailed it out of there. I was using some old 50gr. ammo that had been loaded from way back and it really was not dialed in, although it does group well.

I've been working on a 35gr. load for skunks and such and did a little more on it this afternoon and feel pretty comfortable with it now. Got the scope readjusted so should be on track now. I'd really like to shoot 50 grainers, but haven't been able to get the groups tightened up sufficiently. What do you think about shootin' yotes with a 35 gr. Vmax bullet? It's sort of lightweight, I'm sure it explodes small stuff pretty good, not sure about something as large as a coyote.

The crops are out of the fields up here. As soon as the pumpkin apparel season is out...its on!

All you fellow pred hunters, do take notice of the contest up above in the sticky area. Please join in and encourage others to do so as well.

The day I got my foxpro e-caller I called 1 in behind my house. It was a big solid black male, came from nowhere and ran all the way up to the caller. If i hadn't put it up in a bush I think he would have grabbed it and ran off. I didn't have my rifle with me, I was just messing around with the caller. Surprised me how quick he came in.

There's a coyote pack that hangs around the farms that surround my house. I was gonna start shooting them but my wife suggested using them as a test group for calls. I think that's a good idea (for now)

That idea will get less effective each time you try it. You're educating them and making it all the harder for people who need to kill them to do so.

I usually give them away but I'm going to start doing some taxidermy stuff so they will be projects. Going to start tanning and do shoulder to full body mounts. I've been purchasing taxidermy tools and equipment a little at a time. All I can do is try.
