Looks like everyone is getting into it!

Well since FN Herstal owns Browning and Winchester I would assume anything they can cross brand they will. Just like the FN SLP shotgun uses the Winchester Super X2 gas piston design.

Like the NEW"Benelli" 223 semi auto, a year ago it was labeled the Rx4 Beretta storm

I don't really "get" this wpn, too many good .308 semi autos out there already. Pls it makes little to no sense for hunting - too heavy and who needs that many rounds anyway?

That SXAR really looks like the FNAR. The pic rail on top looks split but everything else looks almost exactly like it. The color thing is probly like DPMS and Remington where the color goes with the brand.

Overall, mght be a good thing for getting more available magazines for the FNAR.

Really, I am. When I saw this gun by FN, I thought, now that looks like a nice BAR made tacticool by some company who want to get in on the black rifle thing. Hey, I love a nice tactical rifle, I own a few myself. But I don't see the sense in this set-up and I'd spend the $ on a nice AR-10, M1A, or even a PTR-91 if I was looking for a proven 7.62 battle rifle. If I wanted to hunt with it, a nice bolt action makes a heck of a lot more sense. I guess I could hunt in a pinch with my PTR, maybe even my AR, but I have other, better suited wpns I grab before the black rifles. Maybe I'm a traditionalist. Just my crazy opinion, but opinions are like ... well you know the deal. And - it's ugly!

I think it would make a fine hunting rifle. The FNAR is likely the most accurate semi auto that you can pickup for less than $1400. Also, they're not that heavy. Mine is a light barrel that tips the scale at 8.2lbs.

My heavy barrel FNAR is popping 1/2" groups with old clunker ammo. Granted, it ain't a 7 pound mountain rifle but even with my big scope, it doesn't feel any more bulky than a heavy bolt gun. By the way... it ain't ugly!! :D
