I have already spoken to a couple of ya'll about the possibility of me joining the Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association but am unable to take a tour of their facilities for a little while. I'm wondering if any of our local Oak Ridgers could give me their opinions and maybe some details about the facilites. (Range conditions, trap and skeet pricing, times of operation, etc.) I've just never been aware of a place like this. They seem to have it all.

If the dues were 3 times as much it would still be a great deal. All the ranges are nice and clean with covered areas so you can keep out of the sun or rain. It's usually not very crowded either. You need to take some time and go down there and shoot. I'm sure there are any number of members, including myself, that would be happy to take you.

If for whatever reason you can't go down and look... My opinion... Go for it and join up you won't be disapointed.

I concur with BrasiNuts. I joined last year and just mailed next years renewal. In addition to use of the facilities they also have classes to promote specific shooting disciplines and shooting safety. We Oak Ridger's are very fortunate to have such a facility available but considering all it has to offer it's worth traveling to for out of towners. :squint:

I concur. I now live quite a distance from there, but will probably (likely) renew anyway. Great facility. One of the few places you can plink, and the longest rifle range around, + competitions of all types.

For the money, I figure even if I can only get there half dozen times a year, it's still worth the price, especially in comparison to typical single use indoor range fees.

Brasilnuts "sponsored" me. He knows of what he speaks!

Don't know if you care, but they have a fantastic Archery Range too. Two different trails with several places with targets set up.

They also have an indoor range, but it is very difficult to use. No FMJ rounds allowed.
