Magpul's Angled Foregrip

I recently ditched my VFG, preferring to really reach out on my handguard in a more classic thumbs forward style.

This product looks very interesting to me, I'd like to try it to see how I like the compromise in grips.

I saw this on M4C the other day and am still a little undecided on it. I use a stubby VFG as a hand stop, but I can also use it as a traditional vertical grip if I need. I'm not sure I'd ever "need" to do either, but the versatility seems like a nice thing to have.

The Magpul Dynamics guys are huge proponents of gripping the foregrip thumbs forward. Actually, DaCosta seems to wrap his hand completely around the foregrip with his thumb going over and around the top circumference right behind the front sight base. It's crazy, but jeebus the guy can shoot it like that and never seems to drift off zero.

Wow. The ergonomics of this make perfect sense. I'm surprised no one thought of it sooner. I think you should be our guinea pig. :D

I can't find a release date. I'll give it a whirl as soon as I can find one.

Magpul Introduces the Angled ForeGrip

Magpul has just alerted us to a new product that will be available within the next two weeks. The AFG (Angled ForeGrip) is the first of several new products being introduced between now and SHOT Show.

We are beginning to see a number of accessories hitting the market that endeavor to improve the interaction of man and weapon. After what is obviously an in-depth study of how the shooter should hold his weapon Magpul set about developing the AFG. The AFG has gone beyond just adding finger grooves to enhance ergonomics. It is in fact, a whole new way of gripping the rifle.

According to Mapul’s Drake Clark, “The AFG falls into the category of “Theory Based†products. Simply put, these products are designed to enhance weapon performance and user interface beyond what is currently available. Because these products do not simply replace an existing weapon component, there is an understanding with Theory Based Products that simple plug and play doesn’t apply. They require education by way of instructions, training, and familiarization with the product to become proficient, and only then will the benefits be realized. In addition to the AFG, other products in this category are the B.A.D. Lever, MS2, and ASAP.â€

In addition to use on the M-16 family of weapons, Magpul recommends the AFG for use on the AK-series as well, as the design does not get in the way of magazine changes.

The AFG comes in Black, Flat Dark Earth, OD Green and Foliage Green.

What optic is that?

Aimpoint micro T1 if I am not mistaken.

Yeah, it's the Micro T1. One of these days I'm going to replace my big-ass Aimpoint ML3 with that.

It's on every good little SBR's Christmas list this year :screwy:

Bingo! On the LaRue "tall" mount. I just threw an H-1 (same thing, but with less submersion depth and no NV capability) with a LaRue "short" mount on my Saiga-12. Sweet action! :screwy:

Back on topic, I've been having a hard time deciding on a suitable VFG for my new Arsenal AK since it's got OD furniture, and LaRue doesn't make their FUG in OD (get on this Mark!). I think that I'm going to check out the AFG as soon as it's in stock, and I'll try to remember to report back here. ;)

I wanted something smaller than the Comp ML3 so I found a deal on one of the EOTech XPS 3-2. Very happy with it and it has NVG capability.

Got no NVG so I guess I'll go old school and turn on the lights!

I dont have any personal NVGs wither but if I get deployed again I will have access to them and can take my EOTech.

Would be really interested to see how holding the rifle with that grip would be. I just have a full size vert grip right now. After watching the magpul dvd sets, I've change my hand position to their style, it makes sense.
