Browning Model 81 BLR

I have a Browning Model 81 BLR, 7 mm Mag. Following a very dusty dirty hunt in TX, I took out the breech, lever and trigger mechanism to throughly clean the gun. When reassembled, the breech mechanism does not fully lock. As a result, the gun does not fire. I called Browning and was informed it would have to be sent back to them to be "retimed". Actually, they will not do it either, and I have been asked to send it to Mid West Gun Works, at considerable cost.

The gun comes apart and went back together with ease. Two questions, does anyone have knowledge that they would share with me on how to get it working again, and if not is there a local gunsmith that is knowledgeable about this weapon and would know how to "retime" this gun?

I've done one before. Not that bad. I did one while attending the Colorado School of Trades. The staff looked at me and told me good luck! After a few attempts it worked just fine. Pain in the but building it up just to find out you got to move it a few more teeth to lock up correctly. Up and down. Third or fourth try for me. I will say having head-space gauges made me feel better before going to the test fire booth after I thought I had it right!

Don't know where you live in relation to me but I could give you a hand if needed. Good luck.
