Why would you want to pay for something you've never even seen before?

Based on reports I've had from some LEO friends of mine (that I trust) who got to spend some time with the new guns... Basically they said "get one"...

Besides, if I'm not fond of it, I'm pretty sure it'll be easy to find it a new home...

I'm still waiting on a 3rd gen G23 with RTF. I dont even really care about any of the other features incoming, as long as I wind up with the right grip.

All Gen 4 guns will ship with 3 mags. This has also been confirmed. No, I don't have a link and won't cite a source name. I rec'd this info from a LE friend (command staff) who is shooting buds with their Glock rep. Everything else stated at the beginning of this thread (ambi mag release, double spring recoil assembly, etc.) was also confirmed by him. The backstraps don't slide off/on like some pistols. There basic frame is SF and the "add-on" backstraps bring it up to regular and large frame sized grips.

What I still want to know is the roll-out schedule for the different models. I assume they will be phased in like the RTF option was.

I've heard a rumor they've eliminated the need to pull the trigger to strip it. I'm dubious since that would mean a redesign of the inner workings. Any word on that?

OK, I'm a Glockaholic, and a fairly experienced shooter in general. But I've never heard "RTF" used in reference like in this thread. I can supply what it means in my circle of friends, as in "real tough ....er" and that certainly applies to a Glock.

But what the heck are you guys using it to refer to?

I'm already happy, it's ugly, it works, it's ugly, did I say it works? It's ugly!!!! "purty" guns don't scare anyone, and most don't work. Did I say it's ugly? ...Oh yeah, it works!!!!!!

I haven't heard anything about eliminating the need to pull the trigger to field strip. I have never really felt that was a big deal anyway though so it isn't a big "upgrade" to me.

Carbine @ the SHOT show ... now, that's funny right there. I don't care you who you are.

It would eliminate one of the major causes of NGs with Glocks.

Not a big deal to me either though. Just testing the veracity of the rumor.

A little care and common sense on the part of the operator would accomplish the same thing. Of course, Glock could always complicate their firearm by adding nanny features for the idiots who can't remember that they are holding a deadly instrument in their hands that deserves all of the care and respect of such when it comes time to field strip them.

I've never understood this as a selling point / upgrade.

If you are too stupid to not check the chamber before purposely pulling the trigger on any gun, when you don't want it to go bang, then you probably don't need to own a gun (or anything sharp) in the first place.

Hard as we may try, there are some things in life that can't be made completely "stupid-proof."

Sorry, cranky after working all night... :screwy:

Thanks for the education on "RTF" that could have been embarrasing!

I agree that the need to pull the trigger is a non-issue. I was taught to triple-check the thing was chamber-empty and no mag before doing anything else anyway.

Heck, when I pick up a single-action revolver, I go completely through the cylinder counting 12 empty holes before I'll do anything with it.

Just goes along with the current State of Entitlement and Not My Fault attitudes I guess.

+2 !!!!!!!! Careless, and stupid people who have an NG with a Glock, would have the same thing with a wheelgun!!!!! And you never hear people claiming wheelguns aren't safe to carry with "one in the chamber", crap you got 5 to 8 in the "chamber", Just stupid !!!!!

I'm sure they're just tired of the BS lawsuits everytime some fool does something, well . . . foolish with a Glock in hand.

Reminds me of that website some guy created when he shot himself in the leg while cleaning his gun. He took full responsibility and used it as a teaching moment for others. Too bad everyone doesn't think that way.

I wish GLOCK would put a frame mounted safety on their guns ?????????
Why in the world...
S A F E T Y sake !!!! I carry my CZ 75 loaded, ready to go !!!!

So instead of 3 safeties being active as with a chambered Glock, you think it's somehow more safe to carry a gun with only one safety active (which can be easily accidentally disengaged without you knowing...) which is the state your CZ is in with the hammer back and thumb safety engaged?:squint:
