Any body know the best way to go about removing spray paint from a shotgun without harming the finish on the gun? Come across a cheap Mossberg but someone did a home made camo job with spray paint.

Try using some nail polish remover. I dont know if it will hurt anything but I used it to clean up an old aimpoint and it looks like new.

The active ingredient in nail polish is acetone, and that will not remove it. there is a product that might do the job, you will find it at a HOME DEPOT, it is made by a co called THE WORKS, and should be labeled for removing oil based paint. i have used the latex version and know it works, i have also used there silicone caulk remover and it has worked. I am a professional painter and that is what i would recommend. you will find it on the paint isle.

I've used a product called Kleen-Strip to refinish some stuff, it does a good job. I was going down to bare metal on some painted stuff though, so I don't know how it would affect a blued or parkerized surface.

Depending on how thick the paint is, you might try a fine sandpaper or light wire brush.
