Webley? Possibly Mark IV?

What is this? I came across this and was wondering if anyone knows any history about this. I do know it is a Webley, but is it the Mark IV? It also has the British crown cartouche/stamp above the trigger guard in the closeup (above the 'BNP'). This is cartriged in .38 Smith and Wesson (the shorty). Also, what is this thing worth? Sorry for the sub-par pics.

It's an Enfield No. 2 Mk 1. The bobbed hammer tells me it's a tanker model. They bobbed the hammers so they wouldn't get snagged inside of the tank. It was the main British combat pistol during WWII and remained in service until the early 60's.

I haven't a clue what it's worth. I found some on Gunbroker.com though.

There were probably more, but that was all I cared to look at. Yours looks to be in a bit better shape than these and the cheapest one was $290. I find Gunbroker.com to be a little high on most things though.

Congrats on a cool pistol that might have some cool history behind it!

Congratulations on a cool old gun! I have one of those myself that my Dad bought back in the 60s. The above identifications are correct. Accuracy is ok, but suffers from the incredibly long, very hard trigger pull. It sure is fun to break it open and watch the brass fly out though.

Got to look at one of those in a local shop here the other day. Very interesting gun. The DA is VERY heavy, but the single action was nice!
