The book was is the 11th edition and was published right before the Heller decision.

Just want to add today was my first class. I expressed my dissatisfaction regarding the text book and the Professor popped up and told me that for my final paper I get to choose the topic so have fun.

I am still feeling the professor out I cant tell which side she is on yet, I do think that she favors Obama Care though. Cant really tell just yet, but the topic of legislative powers was based on the Obama Care legislation. We will just have to see.

Hmm. Ok, don't read into the choice of the Obama Care Legislation as a pro-view. Sounds like your Professor is 1) Tolerant - did not burn you in front of your fellow 1L's, as mine did, to everyone who peeped up in his class... and 2) Sounds like your Prof is trying to keep it relevant - better to study the most recent events... a positive thing, as Con Law can be a dry topic if not taught well...

FYI: I hope you did not make the big mistake I made. I hope you are in a state law school - their focus on the state law makes the bar much easier to pass in their state... Unlike the "regional" concept mine had. (To put it in perspective - Nashville School of Law - not ABA - had a passage rate of twice what my "top 25" school did...)

Effectively, the first year is to change your way of thinking, and writing, from citizen to attorney. 2nd year is to get you into a good internship, so you have possible employment. 3rd year is when you get to find a job, and study more in tune with the field you want to practice.

Best of luck. Keep your Pro Rights viewpoint - It will serve you well in several areas of law...

I'm hearing a prof who is GOOD and isn't about taking sides when it comes to grades.

If you come down on a side opposing his views, you better back your crap up with citations instead of personal opinion. (I think this applies to you.)

GOOD teachers (especially at the college level) will encourage opposing views and will challange them. A BIG part of that encouragement is forcing you to back up your argument.

As I posted before, study ALL of the A2 rulings and know them inside n out. Don't argue based on your opinion, argue based on the rulings.

Just to clarify I am not in law school yet, I am in my Bachelors program majoring in law studies. After that I will go to law school.

mcurrier, I believe that may be true in TN but not in all states. Some states require law school and admission to the Bar to practice.

I thought that we were in TN. I'm confused...:squint:

Then that would be pre-law, which usually requires a heavy study on history and/or political science.

Yes, but if you want to be licensed to practice in other states you have to abide by their rules.
