General question re: accuarcy of AR15 type rifle

I am new to the whole AR 15 rifle thing but I am enjoying mine and learning more everyday.

My question for today is: using iron sights (no optics) and from the standing position at 25 yards what kind of accuarcy do you get. Say 3 shots as quick as practical.

I just want some sort of standard that a rookie (me) should shoot for (pun intended).

shoot for keeping all 3 shots inside center-of-mass... at 25 yards, or any range for that matter. if you can keep all rounds center-mass, you're shooting as good as you'll ever need to.....

Years ago I could hit a silhouette at 25 meters by point shooting with an AR. Who knew about center mass? - all hits counted. A wounded enemy was almost as good as a dead one.

You should be able to keep all your hits COM using sights at 25 yards, even with the crappy triggers in most AR's.

from a supported position yeah, but off hand is totally different, I don't think i can do that with any rifle and I always qualified expert. In a combat situation the more holes you make the better.

At distance alot depends on the twist and the round. A standard 1 in 9 with military ball you should be able to keep it in a dinner plate at 200 yds improving the spread at shorter distances. I slung one for awhile and also shot expert. Any expectations better than that will need optics and a precision round. If you want distance get a 1 in 7, 20 inch chambered in .223

There was actually someone with one at the last hipower match here in chattanooga with one. Iron sights (dual aperatures)

From prone position at 500 yards he was a little over 12" group
