Court room theft by a deputy?

I came across this video that shows a sheriff's employee reading and stealing a defense attorney's documents right from her desk in the courtroom. I can't believe that this actually occurred and the non chalant attitude of the judge. It is a long video about 10 minutes but I found it fascinating.

Follow-up to the video.

Judge orders officer to apologize or face jail for taking attorney’s file | Heat City

And another.

Update: Sheriff Joe Arpaio and an attorney for his office say there’s slim chance Stoddard will either apologize or go to jail in the case. They plan to fight the judge’s order.

Did you read any of the links or just go off half cocked? Sheriff Joe said the judge isn't going to tell his (Joe's) employees to have a press conference or to lie.

This judge way overstepped her bounds. Furthermore, she doesn't have a clue (what reasonable corrections officer would thing a member of the Mexican Mafia was passing coded messages - all of them with any experience) about what she is supposedly judging.

I guess you'd be fine with a judge ordering you to have a press conference stating you are sorry you own firearms?

Based on what I saw in the video, the Deputy walked over to the table for no other reason than to read (at least see if he could read) the documents on the defense attorneys table. He was eyeballing the documents almost the entire walk to the table.

I am no expert of the law, but reading/removing/copying a defense attorneys documents can't be legal, can it?

That's the real issue here.

Hmmm, well you do get an A+ for not understanding my statement. And yes, I read the links, thank you sire. Perhaps I shall ask your permission from now on before formulating an opinion?

Okaaaayy.....

Overstepping her bounds, not hardly she is the Judge, its her courtroom she can direct the participants of her court to do darn near anything she wants.

Contempt of Court is a charge that Appeals Courts tend to run from as fast as they can, just like Prosecutorial Immunity there are certain things in our criminal justice system (like it or not) that are just not touched upon.

Next all Attorneys are Officers of the Courts, they are sworn in by a sitting Judge in a Court of Law. They are afforded many privacies and privileges in court and the court environment.

Attorney client privilege is scared and it is frowned upon to violate any part of it even (when) in this case its a third party violation.

The CO was in the wrong, the judge was in the right you don't just walk over to the defense table and begin reading, pilfering and removing documents or any other items that are part of the defenses property.
