Just never been, never answer when I call and no informative message telling hours. Not that many places to get gear in chattanooga espec. On Sunday.

Was at the tanning salon next door the other day,and it looked abandoned.Granted I wasn't paying very close attention, though.

As far as gear goes, last time I was there he didn't have anything other then a couple or so guns.

What are you looking for?

Your best bet around here would be Sportsmans Whse or GT Distributors probably

You are not missing much ... been there three times hoping that each previous time they were just having a bad day. Drive by it every day and I will never enter the place again.

Very little stock and a lot of old chit priced high. Transfer fees are outrageous.

Take a ride to Cleveland and check out the shops there. Worth the ride.

My favorite place in Cleveland is VOW - Volunteer Ordnance Works.

I know the owner is retired leo (state trooper i think) and good honest person, I have only been 2times, not much selection, not much ammo, IMO it is just a dump. but on the other hand you are correct with not many places for gear in Chat. I tend to go on down the road to Carters, or the other direction to Sportsmans warehouse. since Dars in red bank closed.

not much in the store. last time i was in there there was not much to look at. no reloading stuff, no equipment to speak of, etc.... a few guns but nothing i want to look at or pay the high price for. the store has seen it better years. hal, the owner is a good guy, but it looks like the internet sales has closed down another small gun store.

Last I had heard he was getting ready to retire and close down the shop...but I'm out of the loop now so that could be completely inaccurate information at this point :dirty:

+1 for GT's though, if it's tacticool gear that's duty related they probably have it in stock - good selection of 5.11 too

I hate to hear these things, Though, I wonder if this is 100% accurate, I would gladly frequent a local store where I experienced a comradery equal to that experienced here on TGO. It seems to me that the places I visit are unfortunately employed with indifferent individuals that don't give a d**n why you are there or what you are looking for. I am tempted to believe that this occurs more frequently in this area. Frequently I pass the empty Gun Shop here on Signal Mountain and wonder if, at one time, guys gathered there on Saturdays to shoot the breeze and look at guns. Sadly, I don't even remember when this store last operated and I sometimes wish that I would see a "coming soon" sign in the window.

If I had the means, I woud be personally involved in a ressurection. There is not another similar store for miles and the locals are friendly enough. I would like to think that local support would suprise even the most speculative person. A legitimately run, honest store would undoubtedly please the residents of Signal Mountain as well as serve the needs of local hunters and enthusiast alike.

He is not willing to change his attitude, business practices and adapt to current business methods.

I gave him a couple of chances because I felt the way you do. I drive by the place every day.

Last time I was there, I walked out shaking my head and drove to VOW in Cleveland, picked up two handguns and almost $500 of ammo. I had the money, willing to give him a chance and I respectfully asked him to reconsider.

You can make money in today's marketplace. Like the carpet rider says, "Adapt or die". I don't feel sorry for him, he's making his own bed.

last week and today i was in the area of the ammo dump gun store. what i saw last week was cardboard over the windows. today the store was empty and all signs were gone. now it is a empty store front. so i drove over to where the shooter depot sign is on shallowford road and 153. could not find a store. the building next to the big sign is empty. looks like two local gun stores have closed.

I was under the impression that the Shooting Depot has yet to open.

:) Right? :(

don't know,,, like to see a new gun store in the area. the more the better for us. well the sign is new looking and the store next to the sign is empty. it would make a nice gun store.

Went back by there today and the opening soon sign had been replaced by one from Coke wanting their machine back.

Store was empty,and being remodeled.

This place still has all the TSP plasters hanging up in the windows.

Looks like it'll be awhile before,or even if they open.
