Standard commander without box series 80? 550 to 675 depending on condition. SS could go a little higher. A 70 series can go to 800 plus, many put a premium on good condition light weights. Also, it is very important there are no modifications and that it is original. Of course, this is only my opinion from what I have seen at the shows lately. These are also max prices and since a lot of guns are coming out of closets and sock drawers, there are deals to be found if you are patient.

Not looking for a deal, just wanted to know if the value he wanted to trade on was within guidelines. Thanks to you I know it's not.

I have noticed a trend, that many people around here automatically think that if their gun says Colt on it, they can ask $1000 for it, regardless of model or condition.
