I have a Marlin 1895 that has had a little work done to it. The barrel has been cut down to 18" and recrowned. Complete action and trigger job so it is silky smooth. Has a Leupold 2x scope with quick detach rings. It is a sweet shooting little thumper in 45-70.

I have a 336 in 30-30, thinking about a 1895 in 45/70 govt. I currently have the 3030 up for sale on consignment.

I would be interested in putting a low, fixed magnification scope on my 1894... I just can't get used to the open-sights on this thing.

Have you considered a peep site?

Yeah, molonlabetn... I have one on mine and I love it. Feels more natural,

and quicker.

A peep sight might be in my future... I'll have to look at some. I have seen some reference to XS making a ghost-ring sight for the 1894, that might be a good bet.

If I can ever get out to one of the shoots you can give mine a whirl and see if you like it.

I have a Marlin 30-30, model 336. Mine also has the gold colored trigger. Dad gave it to me for Christmas one year (around the early 80's). It is the only rifle I have ever killed a deer with. As far as I'm concerned, it is the only rifle I need for deer hunting in Middle TN. 30-30 is perfect for brush. I remember having a nicely bruised shoulder from my youth when sighting in and practicing for deer season. The only way I see parting with mine is when I pass it on to one of my sons.

I remember that my Dad traded a Ruger 44 mag Super Blackhawk for this rifle and one he gave my brother that same year. Dad loved that Ruger. I still think he regrets letting it go. He must have really loved us to trade that one in. Makes my rifle a litle more special to me.

Hartford '92 .357 carbine in stainless for Sue,

I had never heard of those, but just looked them up. How does she like it? Is it well made? Do you know where it’s made?

used to have... could never hit anything with it... 50-110. My favorite lever is a Marlin 39a, I've owned several over the years...
