According to channel 4's website Judge Bonneyman has heard the arguments, and will issue a decision by lunchtime...it ddn't say what time she goes to lunch.

As of 2pm (1pm Central) at the Tennesseean:

"Nashville judge finds new state law allowing guns in bars unconstitutional due to vagueness." Details to follow.

I surely hope the paper got it wrong...again...

WATE in Knoxville reporting the same.

A judge in Nashville today found a law that allows handguns in Tennessee bars and restaurants unconstitutional, due to being too vague.

That sucks

While this is bad news for the coming months. I have no doubt the legislature will fix this when it is back in session.

I'm not sure what their plans are, but I still say either making a general exception for HCP holders in all places that serve alcohol or repeal 39-17-1305 all together.

This ruling also makes me wish I had the money to challenge 39-17-1359 in a lawsuit. If a law that clearly defines what a restaurant is can be ruled too vague, how can a law that has the language "substantially similar" not be vague?!

Just read this myself. WTF?

I am cautiously optimistic that this will possibly result in a "cleaner", even more favorable bill next year.

I actually agree with this line of thinking, as I think there will be a backlash from the state legislature. The next passage will have fewer (if any) concessions and less ambiguity. At least, I'm hoping that this will be the case. Still, what exactly does this mean for us in the interim? Is this effective immediately?

Oh well I don't drink but I do support the 2nd ammendment, just another right they are taking away from us...for now. We need to be very cautious on who we vote for Governor in this next election. Lets vote for a pro-gun governor. I'm putting my vote on Ron Ramsey. Although i think all Republicans running for Gov will support our 2nd Ammendments.

Haslam isn't knocking my socks off so far in that respect.

Has anyone been able to determine what this actually means RIGHT NOW? Can we or can we not still carry in restaurants? when does this ruling go into effect etc...??

I have been a member for awhile and this is my first post.

We can carry in state parks, then some judge says we can't, then we can.

We can carry in restaurants, then some judge says we can't.

Who is running this country, legislation or women judges?

so WTF, does this mean that we can not carry in a bar because one lone judge said so.

Never could carry in 'bars', only restaurants that serve food 5 days a week along with alcohol.

But I do believe that it means we can't carry anywhere alcohol is served for on site consumption again.

There's another thread going on this.
