Hi!

My name is Byron and I'm from Indiana. I frequent Ingunowners and I had some questions about Tennessee so I figured I'd ask some like minded people. But first a little about me.

I am from the Northwest. I am near Lake Michigan and I work in Gary, Indiana. Yes, it is as bad as you have heard. I work in the ER in the hospital as a nurse. Although I work there I live in the country. Nothing but corn fields around me.

I am a sig nut. I've recently been getting into shooting longer ranges (300-500yards) with my Savage. I just got a new scope for it a Zeiss 6.5-20x50. That is really nice. I am new to reloading and knives also.

So I have a question for you guys. I want to take my wife to a nice cabin in the woods. I don't want it to be too comercialy and touristy. Any suggestions? All I have found on the internet is very touristy. The reason is 1 for a christmas present. And 2 is to get her to EVENTUALLY move down there. Of course, depending on your gun laws.:hat: I'll be reading about those for the days to come.

Thanks everyone!

Byron

Byron,

Most folks will point you over toward the Gatlinburg area. If you want to avoid the touristy parts, I'd recommend portions of the countryside out off of Wears Valley Road in the same general area. It's absolutely beautiful over there.

I have used one cabin rental company myself a few times now and always had good luck with them. I'd be happy to make a recommendation.

Volunteer Cabin Rentals - Smoky Mountain Rental Cabins near Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg Tennessee

In particular a group of us stayed at their "Eight Is Enough" cabin and it was spectacular, but I know they have some very nice smaller cabins as well.

Welcome How are the carry laws in Indiana? I went to Illinois over the summer and had to leave my gun home.

Thanks! I'll look into that. We will have the two of us for sure, possibly another couple.

Welcome!

Tell us about that Sig!

Is that some kinda compensator? :stare:

Yep that's a comp. That is a 220 Sport. The muzzle flip is almost nill. Sig stopped making them a while ago so I had to pick one up.:dropjaw:

We are a SHALL issue state, which is great. I am also one of our more "active" members. We have open carry get togethers every once in a while. Most people don't even know it is legal to carry a handgun. Most police here don't know it's legal to carry it openly. Indiana law is mum on it, we have a License to Carry a Handgun. Not a Concealed Carry Permit.

welcome if you are interested in northeast tn check out roan mountain state park. they are running a special on cabin rentals for the winter half off.

They look great! I'll check that out as well!

Thanks for adding to my unobtainable wants list.

I'd have to echo TGO David's recommendation. I think in the same area of "eight is enough" is another cottage called "almost heaven". It's large but the view back across Wear's Valley is amazing. We invited some friends from Wisconsin to stay with us there a few years ago. They now live here in Maryville. :dropjaw:
