I purchased this gun a couple of years back and I have been thinking of using to hunt this season. My question is...Can I shoot slugs out of it. I have had a couple people tell me and some no...Help???

Unless the barrel is extremely tightly choked, I don't know why you couldn't.

It has a removable modified choke in it right now.

I have never shot a slug out of a shotgun with a screw-in choke, so I didn't know what to tell me buddy here.

Though the only rifled slugs I've ever personally shot have been through cylinder bore shotguns, there was recently a fellow shooting some slugs through his new Rem. 870 Express next to me with standard 28" barrel, which comes from factory with modified Rem-Choke (screw in) as standard.

The conventional consensus is that modified choke or less is fine for slugs. Meaning, it's more a matter of accuracy than safety, as tighter chokes than modified may affect the already so-so accuracy of rifled slugs. Or not. You'll find some testimony that a full choke will INcrease rifled slug accuracy. YMMV.

Obviously, there is nothing inherently unsafe about shooting a slug through a screw in choke, since they make rifled choke tubes especially FOR sabot slug use, although these are generally cylinder bore diameter.

IF there WERE anything unsafe about shooting any kind of slug through any diameter choke tube, there would be big time safety warnings from both shotgun and ammo manufacturers. There are no such safety warnings.
