So, my apartment complex was on fire last night......

I wake up about 10:00 last night to the sound of my roommate banging on my door yelling "Get out! The apartment's on fire!" I throw on some pants and run out the back door.

I came to find out the building next to ours was totally engulfed in flames, probably 50ft. up in the air. Surrounded by fire trucks and other onlookers, we watched the events unfold from the front row seat that was my front porch.

After about 2 hours and countless thousands of gallons of water, the firefighters subdued the flames. The whole third floor of the building was in ashes, and it had no roof.

Fortunately, as has been reported, a resident saw the fire early on and began knocking on doors to warn the occupants of the building. No one was seriously injured, except for a firefighter who is in the hospital for burns to his face.

Thankfully, none of the other apartment buildings (including mine) were damaged. The NFD and MNPD did an amazing job at keeping the situation under control. The were very friendly and professional to those of us in the center of the chaos.

My roommate took pictures and video of the whole event, and I will post those as soon as he gets a chance to download them from his camera.

Here is a video from someone who was at the same vantage point as me last night:

And a couple news stories on the fire:

Glad you are safe. Isn't this the second time those apartments have had a major fire in the last year?
Fire erupted at the same location in January 2007. Several families were displaced and one firefighter suffered facial burns in that blaze.

that was from the second article linked in the OP.

He's not the only one who saw it. My wife and I live two buildings in front of it and could see it clearly from the master bedroom window. Looked like the gates of hell opened up when we got closer.
