"Academy will open a 72,000-square-foot store in the former Circuit City space at The Terrace near Hamilton Place mall, said Elise Hasbrook, the company’s senior communications manager.

The company’s second store will be a 66,000-square-foot anchor in a new shopping center going up on Highway 153 and Pine Marr Road in Hixson, she said."

Chattanooga Times Free Press | Academy opening 2 stores

YES!

Finally we will have a decent supply of sporting goods in Chattanooga. They are going to open TWO yes TWO stores in chatt town, I just can't wait. Maybe we will be able to get some ammo or primers around here, maybe even a gun!

I'll trade you a Gander Mountain for one of those.

+1........and I'll raise you a Bass Pro Shop

It wont stay here long.

Like every other sporting goods store that we've had,it'll eventually succumb to the graces of the Noog.

This time next year,I'll still be shopping at Dick's :D

Why don't you cut it out with them negative waves?!

No. We must capture the yuppies of Chatt town. Where do I sign up for a part time job? I'm tired of the rutherford county folks having all the fun.

I hear they have good prices. I personally am looking forward to having them here. They run black friday specials that are actually pretty good, had rough rider pistols for $99 and taurus pt 140 for $300.

I often visit Acadamy when I'm down Bama way. I like the store, but honestly, I prefer Sportsman Warehouse. I hope SW gets the support to hang around. Sports Authority came and went.... Maybe Cabelas will open a store here. Calhoun GA scared them away. ;)

Im glad they are coming, the more competition the better for the consumer. By the way what the hell happened to the Cabelas coming to N. GA?

Academy is a great sporting goods store. We have, within sane driving distance, a Dick's, Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, and a Dunham's. I spend 99% of my sporting goods dollars at Academy.
