This may be a stupid question but is the purpose of a glass breaker on some of the H&K knives. I was just looking around saw one. Is it what it implies a rock would be cheaper.

I haven't seen it specifically, but I would imagine its to break tempered auto glass........ever try to break a side window out on a car.........not as easy as it seems. The sharp focused point of a glass breaking tool will shatter side glass pretty easy.

It's for breaking glass to either get to a person in a locked car, or to break the glass from the inside of a submerged car.

Exactly!!!!! We carried a spring loaded punch for this same purpose in the Rescue Squad year's ago.

Just saw an episode of Mythbusters recently where they took on whether it was hard to break auto glass underwater. they used an actual side window and tested everything from kicking out the window tousing a special tool like you mentioned. The tool won, it was very hard to break it under water, but the tool did just fine.

I have heard that touching a spark plug to auto glass will cause the window to shatter. not sure why I remember this but I believe it to be true. Certainly would be cheaper, though less tacticool than a HK tool

The porcelain off a spark plug will.

I've done a system install or two after peoples car getting broke into like that.

People will break the porcelain off the spark plugs, and chunk it at your window from across a parking lot.

That way if an alarm goes off, they will be far away from the car.

Of course, you could buy a Surefire "tactical" pen. They're known for they great "writing and fighting" abilities, plus they break auto glass as well. You can pick one up for $125. My wife recently gave me a khaki colored one, and they do write very nicely. PLus Surefire doesn't hate you!Pen_large_xlarge2_24555.jpg
