I have seen this kinda of thing before and yes it speaks volumes of how the ones that are incarcerated think of the keepers. It has happened to me, though in a different way. Where I used to work, you have to turnkey all the doors, my master key got stuck in a lock. Several of them stayed near to protect me, while we waited for the help to arrive. They finally told me to go ahead and break the master key off, which I did. But those in the unit were not going to let anyting happen to me while I was stuck there. There is a difference between being an "A-hole" and "Firm but Fair".

Looks like the other inmates did not mind kicking the crap out of the assailant.

I imagine he had pissed a few people off before this happened.
