Big City to Tri-Cities?

As you can tell by my puny post count, I'm pretty new to the forum. I grew up in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, and now I have a potential job opportunity in the Tri-Cities area. I'll be graduating in May, and this will be my first true full-time job (aside from summer internships), so I want to learn as much as I can.

Although I lived near a major city, I was also involved in the Boy Scouts, and I do enjoy the outdoors ... but I also enjoyed the convenience of all the nearby businesses (multiple gun shops, shooting ranges, cycling shops, etc).

Do you guys have any advice for a new college graduate looking at the Tri-Cities?

On another note, my girlfriend will also be graduating with a degree is mechanical engineering. I know the economy is bad, but will she have any opportunities to pursue a career in the area? I've heard that pharmaceutical, chemical, and medical supply companies dominate.

Thanks!! :drama:
