Question about Steels and Red Dot Sights

I want to use my Ruger Mark ll for steel shooting. I put a red dot sight on it but wonder at what range should it be sighted in? I am thinking about 20 yards but since I am new to this sport I need a little help.

I use my Mark III in my survival kit. It's primary use is small game on the run, so it's sighted at 50 ft with the ammo I use.

If you are shooting Steel Challenge stages I recommend a 18 to 20 yard zero. The toughest shots in the match are the two small plates on Pendulum and the back plate on 5 to Go. If you are zeroed for these all the rest of them should be no problem.

if you are talking about steel sihouette NRA style match a red dot would be tough. the close chickens a very small and you need to still hit out 100 yards.

Thanks, I zeroed at 50 ft to start (about 17 yards) since the 25 yard side was not available, and then shot at 15 yards and 10 yards. Thigs looked pretty good at these ranges. I will see how this works this weekend and adjust as necessary. I will be shooting steel plates not NRA.
