What's your next "gotta have" gun?

I have heard that the Glock 21sf magazines are hard to find. With the XD, I have read that parts are virtually non existent because of the lifetime warranty. I have handled both firearms, and have no problem gripping the Glock, but like the XD grip better. The extractors for the Glock and XD as well as barrel replacement are the parts I am most interested in, and of course, extra magazines.

With extractors, how much for the externals on the glock, how much for the tuned internal on the XD? I appreciate any info, cause I am itching to buy a new pistol!

Repair parts for XDs are non-existent because Springfield forces you to send the firearm back to them for service. They won't sell replacement parts to you for you to install.

Not yet, I don't... soon, hopefully.

I want to pick up another evil black rifle of some sort, before the country's politics go to **** this election. Either a 5.56 or 6.8 AR build... or an M1A build.

Unless he already sold it, Joe has my old 6.8 at his shop. Its a Kotonics upper on a Tony Rumore (Tromix) lower with RRA guts. He was already taling about taking the red dot (Burris) off of it and putting some other optics on it. I also dropped over a 100 rounds of SSA off with it and 3 6.8 mags so its ready to go....if you really want one, talk to him about it when you talk about the Wilson.

I'll probably save up about 1500 myself and then sell the Compact Kimber for the Wilson next year. My finances can't stand any gun purchases right now.

Cool... will definitely keep that in mind. I'm still unsure which platform and caliber I'm leaning more towards.

If Magpul releases the Masada at the beginning of the coming year, as they've predicted, that may be a serious contender as well.

BTW, I think that all Glock mags will soon be SF-style. I just ordered a bunch of Glock 19 mags, and they are now SF-style, even though there is not yet a G19SF.

For clarity sake, when I said "old" it was an in, "no longer mine". The upper was less than three months old. The lower about 9 months waiting on the build. It has less than 50 rounds through it. Basically brand new. I needed money and had not become attached to that one or bought any reloading stuff for it. Sigh.

It did let me meet Joe and Dan and get a 642 though!

Talk to Mark@sea, he's got a very nice selection of M1a's ...and he'll probably give you a better deal than any gunshop

Yeah, XD parts are available with perseverance, but you can't get them directly from Springfield. Then again, you aren't likely to need them and the XD has a lifetime parts and labor warranty.

While I seldom recommend Wikipedia as a source, there is a very good article about the XD, listing pros and cons of the pistol at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfield_Armory_XD.

I certainly would (and did) go with the XD rather than a Glock when given the option. Why not unless you want to gettoize your pistol with "accessories"? But remember, it's just a safer Glock-like gun. Safer as in grip safety and supported chamber. I still prefer handguns that can be de-cocked and re-cocked.

Being that I'm left-handed, I'm holding out for a Stag Arms lefty model AR in .223.

Creeky's just about got me ready to go to the range with one of those things and my eagerness is pushed higher every time I'm over at his place and he shows me some other reason I should have one(like I needed more than one). Those things just look plain fun with about a dozen old coffee cans and an open red dot site.

Beware Joe, the first one is just the hook....after that its different versions, different calibers, add ons for tacticool....they don't call it Black Rifle Disease for nothing. Either step over and feed the addiction or don't ever start...EVER !

1911s are just as bad. (Flashlights and tactical lights for me as well) sigh

Deerslayer, THANKS FOR THE LINKS!!! I am definitely staying with Glock!

I have never needed to replace or repair any parts on a Glock, but I think it's prudent to not only know how to repair one, but also have a few extra parts lying around so one can avoid the month-long wait after sending a gun off for a repair, if the shipping companies don't lose it. It's also an added benefit to be able to quickly switch out trigger springs and connectors and create a Glock that's a target gun with a three or four pound trigger, or something more idiot-proof with an 8 or 12 pound trigger.

I certainly would (and did) go with the XD rather than a Glock when given the option. Why not unless you want to gettoize your pistol with "accessories"?

I don't think picking up an $89 Lone Wolf barrel that will conveniently and safely convert a Glock from .40 to 9mm should be considered "ghettoizing" your pistol, (whatever that means) but, opinions obviously vary.

Im looking for a used kimber ultra carry II in good condition. Would love a new one but not enough funds at the moment.

Also a tactical shotty would be nice as well

I too have always liked Kimber. My wife IS NOT A PISTOL fan. She is very understanding that this is my way of (Yoga-Tia Chi-Yada-Yada-Yada) relaxing. I bought her the two shot Kimber non-lethal defense Shoot-em-and-run item.

It's not a pistol, but a pyro discharged pepper spray that does damage. Imagine you and some of your friends ready to stand up for a cause and protest in the streets of Nashville for some good cause, when. Your sprayed in the eyes or if lucky, only catching cross wind, you come out unscathed by the Police.

Next Scenario, Your hit with a fire hose in the face, pressure and all.

Now Kimber makes this great tool to put in your mother's, wive's or whomever's stocking. It will stop everything, temporarily (disclaimer).

Did I say 90 MPH ?

I like the qoute "once you have fired the second shot, do not attempt to help the assailant. Use this opportunity to escape."
