Which Nashville area gun shops do you recommend I visit?

TGO Members,

I have an opportunity to spend a day in Nashville doing whatever I like, and I like gun shops. I would like to go to stores that have lots of reloading stuff, but I like lots of handguns, too. I will only have time to go to five or so shops, so which ones should I visit? My favorite handguns are those made by Springfield Armory.

Thanks for your help! :)

The only storefront in the area I'm aware of with a large selection of reloading supplies is the Reloader's Bench. Get off I-40 at exit 226, go right. It's just before the Arby's on the right. Otherwise, check out Guns N Leather up in Greenbriar, or if you're up for a drive, Hero Gear in Winchester.

He means I-40... Reloaders is pricey, but they do have a lot...

Nashville is a strange town as far as gunshops go, basically there isn't very many at all.

When I first moved here I was a bit appalled to find this out, I was looking for a nice indoor range, figured hey this is Tennessee, this is Nashville there's gotta be a mess of good indoor ranges here.

Not so, nothing... gotta go dang near to Kentucky to Guns and Leather to find a decent one.

Same goes for just gun shops, nothing in Nashville... its sad really...

well now.. thats not 100% accurate. Guns for America is in Nashville and is a GREAT shop with a very nice owner. Not the wally world of guns, but a good selection for a small store. :)

Correct, that was supposed to be I-40.

The owner at Guns For America is a great guy, but the last time I was in there the selection was rather small. Worth stopping by if you know what you're looking for, but not so much if you're just browsing to look at different guns. Just my opinion.

No much reloading supplies, but as far as guns and ranges go Guns & Leather in Greenbrier is the best around. I know they get all my money. Great family type business and top notch staff. No jerks behind the counter.

Not many gun shops?

Guns and Leather (Indoor Range)

Academy of Self Protection (Indoor Range)

Gun City (Indoor Range)

Uselton's (Indoor Range)

Guns for America

Franklin Gun Shop

Bellshire Hardware

Eastside Gun Shop

On Target (Indoor Range)

Goodlettsville Gun Shop

Outpost Armory

Academy Sports (honorary mention)

Bass Pro Shops (honorary mention)

Hero-Gear (I know it's not in Nashville, but it's worth the drive so I count them)

Charlie Haffner Outdoor Range (Owl Hollow)

Antioch Outdoor Range (TWHEC)

Now I only go to a handfull of them, and unless you're speaking of only shops in Nashville City limits you got me there, but otherwise there's plenty of variety here. Compared to other cities in Tennessee, as well as Birmingham (they ain't got crap)

Yea, what he said.

IMO, if you're just wanting to look around, the Franklin Gun Shop has a ton of firearms in inventory. They're on the high side as far as prices so I don't shop there myself.

Hero Gear is not close as others have said, but a great place. Good selection of firearms and accessories.

Guns and Leather gets most of my business.

The Outpost Armory down I-24 in M'boro is pretty cool, the Barrett family of .50 cal sniper rifles owns it so you will have some eye candy to look at ;)

It's about 45 mins from Nashville though

Come on now...you got the best of both worlds ;)

Charlie (younger fella who works there) is a really nice guy. Too bad their location and "un-wanted" clients paint a bad light on the shop. Everyone should experience the Dungeon just once...

There are no good shops within Nashville city limits from my experience. They all have at least 2 of the following 3 problems: Lack of knowledge, bad customer service, high prices. Outside of Nashville is a much safer bet.

Have you been to Guns for America? (Armory Dr exit off I-65, cross Powell Ave into Interior Design showrooms)

I'm new to TN but my experience here tells me to be careful where you shop and what you're shopping for. Some stores in this area are out of their minds on prices. The rush is over punks..... Prices are falling. If you are trying to sell a $9.00 magazine for $35 or selling a rifle for $800 or $1000 more than current Gunbroker prices then you are a scumbag and I hope you go out of business. There are some good guys in this town but they usually don't have any stock. I particularly wouldn't buy a damn thing south of Brentwood ever again. If we were a decent community we'd give our business to the smaller guys and boycott the stores who stuck it to us during the panic and put them out of business.

JMHO and I am venting here but dang! Is anyone else ticked off when they see a $3000 price tag on $2200 rifle and the grey-before-his-time jagoff across the counter is offering you $500 trade in on a $1400 gun?
