should be, irons, red dot or low power scope. it all should be fine.

if they get a "long" range stage about 100 yards most should be under 30 yards.

good luck

So I'd be "legal" with a aimpoint,EoTech, or a Meprolight?

I know GGC 3 gun matches are irons only

Posted

i have used EO Tech there before and i know of at least one shooter who will have one saturday.

how long of a drive is it in the real world from the Donelson area? Google maps puts it at 1hr 9min...

I plan on being in Gallatin also but I won't be shooting Irons. I mostly shoot a low power variable scope...

Depending how far you are to the highway I'd say an hour from that area. I'm off OHB on the south end of town and it takes me 10 minutes just to get to 65 and then another hour to get out there.

dunndw; No complaining about the drive. I will be leaving Hermitage at 6:00AM so I can setup the stages.

I will be using the IDPA classifications to score the match. Standard sights on the shotguns. Red dot or scope on your rifle will score you in ESP, iron sights will score you in SSP. CDP guns will be allowed to run 10 RD. mags. for scoring in ESP.

If you want to run a Heavy metal setup bring a.308 or 30-06 rifle, 5-7 round pump shotgun and 8 round.45 pistol. Scored as CDP.

I have round and mags restrictions on the woods walk. 4 10 round mags max on body for pistol and 30 round max for rifle. speed reloads ok. 8 shotgun slugs required on woods walk.

High cap. "standard factory" may be run on all other stages in ESP.

Please limit pistols to approved IDPA or USPSA production only. Dropped offset holsters ok. No USPSA speed holsters please. I have some 3-gun rules posted on Gallatin Guns website, I will be using these.

Bring your setup, we will put in some class.

Here is the format for the match tomorrow from Robert.

3 - Gun Classes

Standard -- "SSP" IDPA legal pistol, 10 rd. mags., strong side IDPA holster. Iron sights on rifle with single 30 rd. mag. max. Any shotgun with standard sights. 9 rd. max.

Tactical -- "ESP" IDPA legal pistol, High cap. "factory standard"mags ok. Strong side holster or dropped strong side tactical holster ok. One optic allowed on rifle. 40rd. mag or 2-30rd mags on mag-cinch ok. Any shot gun with std. sights ok. 9 rd. max.

Heavy Metal -- "CDP" IDPA legal pistol. 8 rd, mags. Strong side holster or dropped strong side tactical holster. Iron sights only on rifle. .308 min cal. Single 20 rd mags. max. Pump shotgun only with iron sights, 8 rds max.

General Rules

Shotgun -- 9 rounds max at start. No optics. Shotguns under 22" should be used because of tight confines in the COF. Slugs used only on paper targets. Birdshot or AA loads will work on all other targets. There will be paper targets on some COF's requiring slugs. Spare shotgun rounds may be carried on shotgun, pockets, belt carrier or arm carrier.

Rifle -- .223 or 5.56mm min. cal. rifle ammo. AK or AR style rifles work best in this game. No round larger that 30-06 will be allowed. No steel cored ammo or tracer. Spare ammo may be carried on belt holder or pocket.

Great shoot today gentlemen. Had a ton of fun, met some nice shooters. My two pieces of advice for people thinking about attending a match is:

1. wear comfortable boots

2. pack food and water

Good match by Robert. I had a good time, didn't shoot worth a damn but still had fun!

Thanks go to Jeff Stone for running the last stage for me, as I had to scoot.

dunndw I belive we were in the same group. I was the old guy with the AMSOIL vest. It was a great shoot.

Yep...I was the redhead with the TRP. Good to put a name to a face
