If it's shipped across state lines, it has to go through a FFL. That's federal law. Gift or not.

Can she fly here or he there and bring them in checked baggage?

question 1. if she ships more than one, will the FFL charge for each individual?

question 2. is there a backround check for each transfer?

I think she wants to send me 4 or 5...that can get pretty expensive for a gift...

good point on the money thing...

does the FFL have to perform backround checks for each gun. or can they do one for all?

The 4473 has space for three or four guns on it. The TICS charge is per 4473 but a response from a dealer would be more authoritative.

As far as the 4473 itself is concerned, you can put more than one gun on a transfer, all for the same $10 TICS. TBI tried to limit it to 3 guns based on a case I am familiar with but I think they got slapped down on that one.

As far as the dealer fees, most dealers will charge per gun. Eastside charges per transfer at the present moment. But there is also a multiple sales report that the dealer needs to fill out (and a real PITA it is) for 2 or more handguns and Eastside charges a small amount for that.

This brings about a question I have, what is the TN law on giving a gun as a gift to my daughter who also lives in Nashville.

Is there anything we need to do before I give it to her?

Thanks in advance!

For a definitive answer of course call ATF.

I would make sure she isnt a convicted felon or otherwise barred from owning one. Other than that there isnt a procedure.
